Ross Phifer is a retired reinsurance executive, having been a COO, Arbitrator, Expert witness, Underwriter, Designer of Underwriting Guides, and Goal Creator. He authored ‘Reinsurance Fundamentals‘ a professional book for the industry and dozens of articles on trends and financial measurements. For example, he served as Chairman of the first actuarial study of damage from Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Floods and Earthquake in the USA. He was recognized as a teacher and leader. In his retirement he has written novels, short stories and essays.

Selected Charity – Portions of the book income will be donated in support of the Denise Hogan Library in Africa. This library began in Kenya and is now located in Nairobi. The library is dedicated to developing and sustaining a reading culture in Africa. After 18 years of operations the library has moved to new quarters thanks to a generous donation that has funded the land purchase and the cost of building the first of two planned floors. The second floor will be funded by individuals to expand the number of students that can use the facility. It has recently received a number of new computers which need tio be connected to the internet. Needs include: tables, chairs, shelving, and better WiFi capability. It has 40,000 books, 20,000 magazines, and some daily newspapers.
